If your New Year’s Eve celebration includes fireworks – make sure they are legal to set off. Officials in the City of Dubuque remind residents the use of most fireworks is banned within the city. Only novelty fireworks – like sparklers and Roman candles are allowed. Outside the city – in the unincorporated parts of Dubuque County – 1st– and 2nd-class fireworks are permitted. Those using fireworks in the city limits can be fined $250.
