Dubuque Man Pleads Guilty For Sex Charges With Underage Girl

A Dubuque man has pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting an underage girl. 25 year old Troy Rees of Dubuque entered the plea in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County to a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor. His sentencing hearing is set for May 16th. Prosecutors will argue for a prison sentence, while the defense will request a deferred judgment or suspended sentence. Rees will have to register as a sex offender for life regardless of his sentence. According to police, Rees had inappropriate conversations with the girl on Facebook in late 2020, which included him convincing the girl to send him explicit photos of herself.
