City of Dubuque officials have named a new director for the Multicultural Family Center. Umaru Balde will start in the position on June 1st, replacing Jacqueline Hunter, who resigned from the center in July 2021. Balde most recently worked as an investigator for the City of Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission. A report says he also has served as the assistant director of the Latino and Multicultural Services Department with the YMCA of Black Hawk County in Waterloo; an admissions representative for diverse populations for Hawkeye Community College; and an international health, safety and security advisory for the University of Iowa.
