The state’s racing and gaming administrator says this year may be the first time we will be able to get a true read on Iowa’s sports gambling market. Brian Ohorilko (oh-REEL-koh) says there has always been some factor that impacted the industry in some way since it started in 2019 – mostly the pandemic. The most recent fiscal year saw the amount of Iowa sports betting double. Ohorilko says that happened as a number of sports books were just being launched. Sports betting topped two-point-four billion dollars. He says 91-percent of it was done online.
