Iowa Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds was reelected Tuesday to serve a second four-year term. She led her Democratic opponent Deidre DeJear in polling and fundraising by wide margins throughout the campaign. The margin was 58% to 39%
Republicans were trying Tuesday to sweep Iowa’s four seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. In northeastern Iowa, U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson fended off a challenge from Democratic Iowa Sen. Liz Mathis.
Scott Nelson wins the race to become the next Dubuque County attorney. Scott Nelson secured the position with 16,559 votes, narrowly defeating Democratic opponent Sam Wooden, who had over 15,000 votes.
Iowa Rep. Chuck Isenhart, D-Dubuque, narrowly won reelection over Republican challenger Jennifer Smith to represent House District 72.
In the District 71 race, Iowa Rep. Lindsay James, D-Dubuque, defeated Libertarian challenger Sean Schriver, with James receiving 67.2%.
For the Semate District 33 seat, Iowa Sen. Carrie Koelker, R-Dyersville, won reelection in District 33 over Democrat challenger Matt Robinson.
