A city commission backing a $75 million reconstruction of the Five Flags Civic Center aims to lower the bond amount that city taxpayers will be asked to approve. Five Flags Civic Center Commission members on Monday agreed to form a subcommittee to investigate possible naming and sponsorship deals for the 40-year-old Five Flags Civic Center. Five Flags General Manager H.R. Cook says all types of naming rights will be available for sale to bring the price tag down. Under the $75 million plan, the center would be demolished and then rebuilt, expanding across West Fifth Street to increase the arena’s capacity from 4,000 seats to more than 6,400. The Dubuque City Council has approved a September 8th vote on the proposed project.
