The City of Dubuque’s tax rate will increase under plans to add police and fire personnel and support the city’s ever-expanding traffic and security camera network. City Council members voted unanimously to approve recommended budget policy guidelines for the fiscal year that begins on July 1st. City Manager Mike Van Milligen recommended council members increase the city’s tax rate to $10.43 per $1,000 of taxable assessed value from $10.33. The increase would generate over $266,000 in added property tax revenue.
