Dubuque County authorities said a machine shed in Holy Cross was damaged in a fire Tuesday, and an emergency worker was treated for heat exhaustion. According to a report, fire and emergency medical services units from Holy Cross, New Vienna, Farley and Sherrill, as well as the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to Flannagan Road at about 3 p.m. Tuesday after a passerby noticed smoke coming from a machine shed. An investigation indicated that the fire began in a piece of farm equipment inside the shed. Between the building and equipment, damage was estimated at $120,000. One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion but was not transported by EMS. The fire remains under investigation.
