The Dubuque Fire Department was dispatched around 5:20 this morning for a structure fire at a two story, single-family residence. The first unit arrived at the scene at 5:26am and reported smoke showing from the house. Upon arrival, the initial fire companies deployed a hose line to the garage where they encountered an active fire, a second line was deployed to the basement of the house to extinguish an active fire in the lower level. Additional companies arrived at the scene and secured a water supply, conducted a search of all floors, assisted with extinguishing the fire and conducted salvage and overhaul of the building. The fire is currently being investigated by the Dubuque Fire Marshal’s Office. The Dubuque Fire Department was assisted by the Dubuque Police Department and Alliant Energy. There were no injuries to civilians, one firefighter had a non-life-threatening injury and released from medical care. No other injuries to responders were reported. However, the home has been deemed uninhabitable.
