Dubuque Man Sentenced To 55 Years in Prison For Sexual Abuse

A Dubuque man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for sexually abusing a girl he knew for about six years. 41 year old John Pecora III was given the sentence in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after previously being found guilty by a jury on charges of second-degree sexual abuse, lascivious acts with a child and three counts of third-degree sexual abuse. Pecora’s trial began May 2, and the jury rendered its verdict May 5. Pecora must serve a mandatory minimum on the second-degree sexual abuse charge of 17 years and six months in prison. The incidents involved a girl under 17 and happened from 2014 to 2020 in Dubuque.
