Colorado Man Sentenced For Selling Heroin in Dubuque

A Colorado man charged with distributing heroin in the Dubuque area was sentenced Friday to 38 months in federal prison. 39 year old John Andrew Pruitt of Pueblo West, Colorado, was given the prison sentence by a judge after pleading guilty March 23rd to a charge of distribution of a controlled substance. Authorities said Pruitt distributed heroin in the Dubuque area over a five-year period beginning in 2017. In March 2020, authorities say Pruitt supplied an individual with heroin that led to an eventual overdose, but despite learning about the overdose, Pruitt nonetheless continued to sell drugs in the Dubuque area. Pruitt must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term.
