A Jones County man has pleaded guilty to stealing equipment from a Dubuque County implement dealer. 37 year old David Sterling of Monticello pleaded guilty in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County to second-degree theft. He initially was charged with first-degree theft but pleaded guilty to the lesser-included charge. A sentencing hearing has been set for December 11. Sterling’s plea agreement states that attorneys will recommend a deferred judgment and two to five years of probation, in addition to civil penalties and victim restitution. Roeder Implement reported on May 16th that surveillance footage showed an individual taking a towable boom lift valued at $70,000 from the business on May 14th.
