The second day of a Dubuque murder trial has so far hinged on the testimonies of the defendant’s alleged co-conspirators. 25 year old Aaron Johnson of Chicago, is on trial for first-degree murder and first-degree robbery in the fatal shooting of 31 year old Lonnie Burns of Dubuque. Police found Burns February 7th lying on the ground in the 700 block of Rhomberg Avenue, unresponsive, with several gunshot wounds. Prosecutors this morning (Thursday morning) called two of Johnson’s co-defendants related to the incident, 27 year old Kenneth Reed of Indianapolis, and 29 year old Terry Valrie of Dubuque. Both are charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery for their involvement in the incident alongside 30 year old Jermaine Bolds, and 17 year old Tiarha Godwin both of Dubuque. Reed stated plans were made to rob Burns that evening under the guise of having Godwin, then 16, arrange to visit Burns’ home and trade sexual favors for drugs and money.
