For the fourth time since 2012, Galena School Board is asking voters to approve a raise in their property taxes to fund improvements to their schools. Galena residents on March 19 will vote to decide whether the Galena School District can issue $14.2 million in bonds to pay for a $28.2 million project to renovate the existing high school and construct an addition that will connect the newly renovated elementary-middle school. The remaining $14.2 million would be paid for with district reserve funds. School board members voted unanimously Tuesday December 19 to put the bond measure on the upcoming spring ballot.
