Appointed Dubuque County employee files for elected office

A longtime county employee has filed to run for elected office. Karol Kennedy, of Dubuque, recently filed to run for Dubuque County recorder. As of Thursday, she faced no challengers — although candidates have until the end of day today to file. Kennedy has worked in the county recorder’s office for 33 years, starting as a part-time clerk and working her way up to deputy recorder before her appointment last year to the county recorder spot.
