Social Security benefits are expected to be paid on time despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Commissioner of Social Security Andrew Saul says the agency is also reminding people to be aware of possible scams trying to take advantage of the pandemic in an attempt to trick people into providing personal information. While benefits will still be distributed on time, the agency is shifting its call center times due to the pandemic. The agency’s call center will now be operational from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. local time. Due to the pandemic, the agency said it is experiencing longer wait times than normal. Residents are asked to remain patient and use online services if at all possible.
