A second area resident has been charged with attempted murder for his role in a Dubuque stabbing. 22-year-old Scott M. Wessels of Dubuque, is now charged in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County with attempted murder, willful injury, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony and going armed with intent. The charges stem from an Oct. 26 incident in which 21-year-old Hunter Guyon of Dubuque, was stabbed in downtown Dubuque. Court documents state the stabbing resulted in “significant injuries” that required emergency surgery and subsequent transport to University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center. 22-year-old Gabriel Dominguez of Sherrill is also with attempted murder, going armed with intent, willful injury and conspiracy to commit a felony in connection with the stabbing. Wessels was initially charged with accessory after the fact, but court documents state he now faces the elevated charges after the trial information was formally filed. Neither Wessels nor Dominguez has yet entered a plea, and both have arraignment proceedings set for Dec. 16.
