Dispatchers at the Dubuque Emergency Communications Center have found repeated and varied success following the implementation of a digital platform meant to improve emergency response. The center in March launched a software platform called Prepared Live that allows dispatchers to livestream, receive multimedia attachments and obtain real-time location information from the mobile devices of 911 callers who opt into the program. Since the program was implemented, lead public safety dispatcher Jason Cox said there have been roughly 2,400 incidents in which the technology was deployed — 229 of which resulted in photo or video materials being relayed to dispatch.
