A former Dubuque Fire Department Chief has passed away. Chief Dan Brown died Friday at the age of 68 following a brief illness. Chief Brown began his career with the Dubuque Fire Department in January 1982. Over the years, he advanced through the ranks, starting as a Fire Equipment Operator in 1986, moving on to Lieutenant in 1987, Captain in 1993, and ultimately becoming Fire Chief in 1996. After 31 years of dedicated service, Chief Brown retired in 2014.
