Authorities said three firefighters were airlifted after sustaining injuries battling a grass fire in Jo Daviess County. Jo Daviess County Emergency Management states in a press release that Elizabeth Fire Protection District personnel responded to provide mutual aid at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday for a grass fire on South Rush Road with Hanover Fire Protection District. While conducting fire ground operations three firefighters were injured. The three firefighters were each airlifted to hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The release does not identify the firefighters, nor does it provide details on the extent of their injuries. The fire was extinguished by crews on the scene.
