Clayton County Fatal Crash

One person is dead after a truck hit a tree and then started on fire near McGregor Saturday afternoon. According to a Clayton County Sheriff’s Office report, the crash happened about 3:40pm along the Great River Road. Authorities say the pickup truck was going north when it failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, went into the ditch, hit a tree head-on and then caught on fire. The driver was the only person in the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not released the identity of the victim at this time.
