Authorities in Clayton County said they found a body in the Mississippi River Saturday morning. The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a body in the Mississippi River north of the Cassville Ferry Landing around 11:20 am on Saturday. Upon arrival, deputies, along with members of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Clayton County Medical Examiner’s Office, recovered the body of an adult male. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy to identify the individual. It will also work to determine the cause and manner of death. The incident is under investigation by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
