A Dubuque resident with an extensive background in state government work will serve as the next Dubuque County recorder. Ann E. Sweeney will start in the role Monday, Aug. 18, after the Dubuque County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Monday morning to appoint her to fill the vacant recorder position after former office holder Karol Kennedy resigned a month ago. Supervisors Harley Pothoff and Ann McDonough said Sweeney was their top candidate for the position. Supervisor Wayne Kenniker voted in favor of appointing Sweeney alongside Pothoff and McDonough. County Auditor Keith Lucy confirmed at the end of the meeting that Sweeney accepted the position.
