The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that 24 inmates have tested positive for Covid-19. A department release says that the results were released Tuesday after all staff and inmates were recently tested. The additional testing follows a positive coronavirus case of an inmate being held at the Dubuque County Jail. Sheriff Joe Kennedy said in the release all 24 inmates who tested positive have been placed in medical segregation. They are being cared for by nursing staff at the facility. So far, no jail staff have tested positive for COVID-19. The 24 positive tests from inmates were a big factor in Dubuque County’s record-number of new cases reported Tuesday. In total the county added 35 new cases. Since the pandemic began, the county has had 452 cases.
