Balltown is the first community in the state of Iowa to complete the U.S. Census and only the second in the country. With 73 residents, Mayor Sherri Sigwarth said the town is about a 50/50 split between younger and older families. She made it somewhat of a mission to complete her town’s census count early. Sigwarth was presented the “Key to the the Future Response Rate Challenge” award from the census bureau which was presented by Lt. Governor Adam Gregg and Secretary of State Paul Pate.
