A Dubuque man now awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to drug charges in federal court. Reports show 38-year-old Travis Jones pled guilty to conspiring to distribute controlled substances near a protected area resulting in death. Jones had admitted to working with others to distribute opioids in the Dubuque area last April and May. He sold three doses of a mixture containing heroin, fentanyl and a synthetic opioid. Three individuals who used those concoctions died of overdoses. Jones faces a minimum sentence of 20 years in federal prison and up to a life sentence behind bars. Along with prison time, he also faces a fine of up to $1-million-dollars. A sentencing date hasn’t been set as of yet.
