Two rooms at Maquoketa High School sustained significant damage after a portion of the roof blew off during Monday’s storm. Strong winds blew off part of the roof at about 1:30 p.m. Monday, leaving two classrooms and a hallway exposed to the storm’s downpour. Superintendent Chris Hoover said two classrooms suffered extensive water damage. One was the school’s computer lab, containing 30 computers. Hoover said staff still is determining how many of those computers were destroyed. The other classroom was used for business classes. Damage to the hallway was minimal.
