Work on part of the Julien Dubuque Bridge will likely continue for the next 3 weeks. Officials with the Iowa Department of Transportation say weekday closures of the eastbound lane could be extended until Labor Day weekend. The project was initially planned for a completion date in mid-August. Crews are working on replacing a chain-link fence around a pedestrian walkway that runs alongside the bridge. According to a DOT update, the exterior fence is almost done – then work will shift to the interior fence. As the project continues, weekday traffic on Highway 20 between 6a and 3p from Dubuque to East Dubuque will be detoured using the Highway 151 Bridge. The westbound lane is not affected.
