Several counties in northwest Illinois will be placed under tougher COVID-19 restrictions starting this Saturday. The order comes from the governor’s office after state health officials reported a 7-day rolling average positive test rate, at or above, 8% for 3-straight days in an area labeled Region 1. That region includes Jo Daviess, Stephenson, and Carroll Counties – plus others. In a statement from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, he said the majority of counties are seeing a downward trend state-wide. However, Region 1 in northwest Illinois is seeing an uptick over the past two weeks. Stricter guidelines for bars, restaurants and other social gatherings are set to take effect on Saturday, October 3rd.
