Stricter measures to battle COVID-19 in northwest Illinois go into effect on Sunday. Governor J-B Pritzker announced the move on Thursday for a region of the state that includes Jo Daviess, Carroll and Stephenson Counties. According to a release from the governor’s office, the new rules include things such as reducing the maximum party size at bar or restaurant tables from 10 to 6 people, and reducing the maximum size of an indoor or outdoor “gathering” to 10 people, down from 25. At the start of the month, the same 9-county region in northwest Illinois had restrictions placed on it through a state recovery plan. Pritzker said that area of the state has “continued to see a surging positivity rate” – which is now nearing 12-percent.
