A plea deal has been reached for a Dubuque man who crashed into a police car earlier this year and injured an officer. According to reports, 32-year-old Christopher Swift has pled guilty to drunk driving related to the February 23rd crash. A 2nd-charge of driving under the influence was dismissed. The deal also included dismissing charges of operating an uninsured motor vehicle, using a cell phone while driving and improper lane usage. Swift has been fined and sentenced to a year of supervision. An Illinois State Police report shows East Dubuque Officer Cody Lange was stopped, waiting to make a left turn, when Swift’s vehicle crossed the center line and hit the police vehicle head-on, injuring Lange.
