Jurors in Cristhian Rivera’s murder trial have reached a verdict. The verdict will be announced Friday afternoon. Their verdict, when it is announced, will be streamed live from the courtroom here. The jury deliberated more than three hours Thursday afternoon and resumed its work at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Jurors broke for lunch about 12:30 p.m. and reached a verdict about 1 p.m. The trial has taken place over the past two weeks at the Scott County Courthouse in Davenport. The defense rested its case Wednesday after Bahena Rivera, who is accused of killing University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts in July 2018, testified in his own defense. He told jurors two armed, masked men forced him to help abduct Tibbetts and hide her body.
