Dubuque Man Sentenced To Prison For Hitting Girlfriend With A Gun

A Dubuque man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for trying to tamper with witnesses after he was charged for hitting a woman with a gun, knocking her unconscious. 35 year old Stephan Toliver was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids after pleading guilty to a charge of attempted witness tampering. Toliver must serve three years of supervised release after his prison term. Toliver got into an argument with his then-girlfriend, Megan Averkamp at their residence t on July 8, 2018. He hit her in the face with a gun, knocking her unconscious.
