A series of public hearings will be held this week regarding the Cardinal-Hickory Creek transmission line project. The Iowa Utilities Board is set to hold the first meeting at 9am Tuesday in the Hotel Julien Dubuque. The Board will also accept presentations of testimony and evidence on Wednesday and Thursday this week. The proposed 345-thousand volt transmission line would run from Dubuque to Dane County. This $500-million dollar project is joint effort by American Transmission Company, ITC Midwest and Dairyland Power Cooperative. The plan has already received approval from Wisconsin’s Public Service Commission. Iowa’s Utilities Board is expected to announce a decision by next spring. Work could begin in 2021 with plans to have the line in service by 2023.
