A rural Dubuque house-fire caused several thousand dollars’ worth of damage to the home – and sent its owner to the hospital. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says crews were called about 6pm on Saturday to the blaze along Hilken Hill Road near Massey Marina. When the first responders got to the scene, the fire was already out. However, 65-year-old Margaret Hoffman was taken to Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center due to troubles breathing. Fire officials believe the blaze began near a microwave – causing the smoke and fire damage. The incident is not considered to be suspicious. No other injuries were reported.
