Officials in Dubuque say the city collected and recycled more than 3-thousand pounds of holiday lights this season. In a release, the Dubuque Metro Area Solid Waste Agency reported gathering 3,127 pounds of lights between November 15th and January 14th. The program is a partnership with the City of Dubuque Public Works Department, the Carnegie Stout Public Library, and the Asbury County Library – which offered expanded collection locations. Officials say this diverted thousands of pounds of lights away from local landfills. Now in its 3rd year, the program has collected and recycled nearly 8-thousand pounds of unwanted lights.
