A Dubuque felon who had a gun while running from police has been sentenced to two and a half years in federal prison. 24 year old Ryan Willis was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids after previously pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. He also must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after his prison term. Details in a report says that Willis was a passenger in a vehicle that led officers on a high-speed chase on January 30 in Dubuque. The car eventually stopped, and Willis and two other people attempted to flee on foot, but all were arrested quickly. Willis stashed a loaded handgun under a tarp while running. Officers found the weapon a short time later. It had been stolen earlier that day.
