The Illinois spring trout fishing season opens this weekend. Fishing will be available at 58 ponds, lakes and streams throughout the state beginning on Saturday. A release states that the Illinois Department of Natural Resources stocks more than 80,000 rainbow trout each year in bodies of water where trout fishing is permitted during the spring season. A local area on the list is the Apple River at Apple River Canyon State Park.
