An Iowa man was ticketed after he reportedly ran away from a fiery crash in Grant County late Wednesday night. The crash was reported just after 11 p.m. on Highway 151 near an exit ramp in the Town of Jamestown. Witnesses told the Grant County Sheriff’s Office that a vehicle hit a guardrail then traveled down a hill to the exit and back onto the road. The vehicle stopped on Old Highway Road, began smoking and caught fire. The driver got out of the vehicle prior to the fire and ran into a nearby farm field. Emergency crews put out the fire and used a K9 to track the driver. He was later identified as 45-year-old Jimmy Martin of Clinton, Iowa. Authorities contacted him on Thursday and confirmed he wasn’t injured in the crash. He was cited for failing to notify police of an accident, hit-and-run and failing to keep his vehicle under control.
