Dubuque fire rescues woman from Mississippi River

A woman was rescued from the Mississippi River Thursday afternoon after a visitor spotted her in the water. A Dubuque visitor at the River’s edge Plaza called 911 reporting a woman in the water screaming for help. 11 firefighters responded to the scene. Fire crews used their new rescue boat, Marine 1, to rescue the woman. She was transported to the hospital emergency department for further evaluation, with a positive outcome anticipated.
