The U.S. Department of Justice said it sent election monitors to cities across all 50 states Tuesday. The DOJ said around 1,000 election monitors and observers were deployed as part of the effort. The monitors include Civil Rights Division personnel and staff from other DOJ divisions as well as the U.S. Attorney’s Offices. Federal observers were also sent out from the Office of Personnel Management. In Wisconsin, the DOJ sent monitors to both Madison and Milwaukee. In Iowa, monitors were sent to Linn and Polk Counties. Monitors were also sent to traditionally Democratic-leaning areas around the country such as Los Angeles, Chicago and Minneapolis.
