Galena Woman Charged with Theft From a Title Company

A woman from Galena has been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 from a title company. 40 year old Teresa Burke of Galena, is charged in Jo Daviess County Circuit Court with two felony counts of theft. A grand jury indictment on the charges was filed earlier this month. Burke’s first court hearing is set for Thursday, March 2nd and a summons has been filed for Burke to appear in court. The indictment states that Burke knowingly exerted unauthorized control over property from Security First Title Company. The company’s corporate office is in Freeport but there also is an office in Galena. Reports say that one of the theft charges involves the loss of more than $10,000.
