In celebration of the Five Flags Theater’s 50th anniversary, Five Flags Center continues screening movies. October brings more of the same plus a very special event, a first run movie with bonus features. On Thursday, October 22, one day ahead of the World Series, Five Flags will screen “UECK: Bob Uecker, The Story of Baseball’s Most Unlikely Legend” at 7:00pm. The evening will include a short pre-film concert featuring Skip Griparis and a post-film Q&A panel discussion with Skip alongside Michael Vollmann, co-director of UECK, and other possible guests.

Skip Griparis portrayed ‘Monte the Colorman’ alongside Bob Uecker in the blockbuster hit movies Major League I and II, a comic role praised by the late great film critic, Roger Ebert. A versatile entertainer, Skip is a virtuoso singer, guitarist, impressionist, comedian and member of the Illinois Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The event will also include a raffle for door prizes. Over a career that spanned more than six decades, Bob Uecker became one of the most recognizable and beloved voices in American sports. Known for his razor-sharp wit and relentless self-deprecating humor, Uecker transformed a modest career as a Major League backup catcher into an unlikely second act as a national comedian, actor, and legendary broadcaster. To generations of fans, he was simply "Mr. Baseball."

Filmed over the final three years of his life with remarkable access, this intimate documentary captures Uecker as he reflects on the improbable journey that carried him from the dugouts of Major League Baseball to late-night television, Hollywood, and the broadcast booth of the Milwaukee Brewers - where his voice became synonymous with summer for fans across the Midwest.
